Well, hey y'all, welcome back to the Southern Catholic Podcast. Grab your cup of coffee, sweet tea, or one of those Alani things, and stay a while. Because today we're going to dive into a real story behind one of the most celebrated saints in the world. Today we're going to celebrate a man who doesn't say a single word in the scripture, and yet his life speaks louder than most ever could possibly imagine. We're talking about the solemnity of Saint Joseph. Now, I'll be honest with you, in this one, it's different. Because in a world that's loud, it's fast, and always trying to prove something to everybody or on social media, it seems like Saint Joseph would feel almost kind of out of place. But you know, maybe that's exactly why we need him. And let's get started. In the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, amen. Of Saint Joseph, guardian of Jesus and faithful spouse of Mary, you devoted your life to protecting and guiding the Holy Family. Teach us to trust God as you did, to act with courage in times of uncertainty, and to serve our families with the humble hearts. Help us to work diligently, love faithfully, and live just quiet in obedience to God's will. Saint Joseph, pray for us, guide us in our struggles, and protect us in all we do. Amen. In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit, amen. Now let's start here. Out of every man in human history, God chose Joseph. He is not a king, not a priest, and not a scholar. He is a simple carpenter, a working man from Nazareth. A place that's basically it's so small, people said, Can anything good come from there? And yet God saw something in Joseph. Scripture calls him a just man. And what that means is he was faithful when no one else was watching, and he did what was right even when it was hard, and he loved God more than his own plans. When everything didn't make sense, now we don't want to skip over this part too quickly. Joseph was engaged to Mary, and suddenly she's pregnant. And Joseph knows one thing for sure the child is not his. And can you imagine at that moment like the confusion and the heartbreak and the questions that are running all through your mind? But what makes this incredible is that Joseph doesn't react with anger. He doesn't try to shame Mary. He doesn't make a scene about it all. Because it would not only affect her reputation, but it r it would affect his reputation as well in those customs back then. Instead, he chooses chooses mercy. He plans to quietly walk away to protect her with dignity. And that right there tells you that everything about his heart and it's the obedience that that shines in the dark and then God speaks. And we often sp God can speak in different ways to us. And in this sense, it's not in a loud voice, not in public miracles, but it's in a dream. And the angel tells Saint Joseph, Do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife. And then Joseph wakes up and does exactly what God asked. He doesn't debate, he doesn't delay, he doesn't doubt, he doesn't have any conditions, and that just becomes the pattern of his life. When danger comes from King Herod, Joseph just gets another dream. Take the child and his mother and flee to Egypt. And so what does Joseph do? He doesn't wait until morning, he doesn't make a five-year plan about what he's gonna do. He gets up in the middle of the night and goes. And that's trust, y'all. That's real lived out faith and trust. And this holiness of ordinary life that Saint Joseph carried. And this is where it hits home for us. Most of Saint Joseph's life wasn't dramatic. We don't have any miracles that are recorded, no sermons that he preached, no spotlight moments, just years of the quiet life in Nazareth. Waking up early, working with his hands, providing for his family, teaching Jesus Christ how to live, pray, and work. And let that sink in for a moment. The Son of God learned how to hold a hammer from Saint Joseph. He learned how to pray at home from Saint Joseph. He learned what it meant to be a man from Saint Joseph. And Saint Joseph did all that without needing any recognition. The strength that he carried, it doesn't show off. And that's a hard thing for us to imagine in today's time. It's a time where we live in where strength is loud. Very loud. But Saint Joseph shows us a different kind of strength. The one that stays, the strength that is to protect, the strength that is to be faithful over time, again and again and again. And when the Holy Family was threatened, he didn't panic, he acted. When life was uncertain, he didn't complain, he trusted. When the things were hidden, Saint Joseph didn't seek attention, he served. And that's real strength. We could ask about the strength of that time compared to what it means now. And then and all of it. Well, why does Saint what does Saint Joseph matter right now? And let's bring it into our lives. We've got the family struggles. We've got the marriages that are under the pressures sometimes, and maybe not all the time, but there's sometimes the marriage, just the pressure that is a mount just comes with it. The men are unsure how to lead people trying to do the right thing, but feeling unseen about it, feeling that they have to be seen about it. And Saint Joseph speaks directly to this. And he reminds us that we don't have to have it all figured out. We don't have to be perfect. We just have to be faithful and listen. And especially for men, Saint Joseph shows that leadership isn't about control, it's about sacrifice, it's about showing up. Even when no one else may be there, no one else is watching. It's about being present, it's about protecting what matters most. And here's something to really sit with. Saint Joseph lived in the presence of Jesus Christ every single day. And his role was not to be the center of it. And that that takes humility right there. He was chosen for one of the greatest missions in history, and yet his job was just to support quietly. That kind of humility is rare. Very rare. But it's holy. And now I'll go in with a challenge of the day. And I want to take it seriously. Do one do one hidden act of faithfulness today. Help your family without being asked. Pray when no one sees you. Or do your work with care and integrity when no one else is watching or there's no clapping for you, no likes for you. Don't tell anyone about it. Offer it up to God just like Saint Joseph would. And also ask Saint Joseph for something specific today. He's a powerful intercessor, especially for us fathers, workers, families, and all those who are making those hard decisions in their life right now. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Saint Joseph, faithful and just man, you trusted God with a path that was unclear. You protected what was sacred, and you lived a life of quiet strength. And Saint Joseph, just teach us to be faithful in this ordinary, to trust God without fear, and to love with humility and courage. Protect our families and God our work and lead us closer to your Son. Amen. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Alright, you guys, thank you for listening. Keep your eyes on Christ, your heart with Mary, and your feet moving towards holiness. You're not alone in this. We're running this race together. I'll see you next time on the Southern Catholic Podcast. Peace be with you.
